Introduction

The Internet of things is a system of interrelated computing devices, mechanical and digital machines provided with unique identifiers and the ability to transfer data over a network without requiring human-to-human or human-to-computer interaction.
IoE is the intelligent connection of people, process, data and things.

Pillars of The Internet of Everything (IoE)

  • People: Connecting people in more relevant, valuable ways.
  • Data: Converting data into intelligence to make better decisions.
  • Process: Delivering the right information to the right person (or machine) at the right time.
  • Things: Physical devices and objects connected to the Internet and each other for intelligent decision making; often called Internet of Things.
History of Iot :
  • The Internet of Things definition: “Sensors and actuators embedded in physical objects are linked through wired and wireless networks
  • There are a number of similar concepts but Internet of Things is by far the most popular term to describe this phenomenon
  • The term Internet of Things was invented in 1999, initially to promote RFID technology
  • The popularity of the term IoT did not accelerate until 2010/2011 and reached mass market in early 2014
  • M2M or the Industrial internet are not opposing concepts to the Internet of Things. Rather, they are sub-segments.
Object :
A smart object is an object that enhances the interaction with other smart objects as well as with people also. The world of IoT is the network of interconnected heterogeneous objects (such as smart devices, smart objects, sensors, actuators, RFID, embedded computers, etc.) uniquely addressable and based on standard communication protocols.

Identifiers :
This use case includes identifiers for:
  • Things
  • Communications
  • User
  • Data
  • Location and
  • Services and Applications

With the classification of identifiers and the categorization of requirements we provide a structure that may help system architects and developers to understand the type of identifiers that they need for their solution.

Iot technologies :

  • IoT Security
  • IoT Analytics
  • IoT Device (Thing) Management
  • Low-Power, Short-Range IoT Networks
  • Low-Power, Wide-Area Networks.
  • IoT Processors
  • IoT Standards and Ecosystems
  • IoT Platforms
  • Event Stream Processing
